The Japan Rail Pass is a prepaid pass for unlimited travel on JR trains, including Shinkansen as well as other non-JR trains. It can be used on all Japan Railway Company (JR) lines such as the bullet train services and local train lines.
The JAPAN RAIL PASS is a special fare ticket that is available only to travelers visiting Japan from foreign countries for sightseeing. The Japan Rail (JR) Pass is a special pass valid for unlimited travel on Japan Railways (JR) transportation, including all JR trains, Shinkansen bullet trains (except Nozomi and Mizuho service), limited express trains, express trains and rapid or local trains, JR bus company local lines (JR Hokkaido Bus, JR Bus Tohoku, JR Bus Kanto, JR Tokai Bus, West Japan JR Bus, Chugoku JR Bus, JR Kyushu Bus), JR Miyajima ferry and Tokyo Monorail.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Refund of exchange order: an exchange order could be refunded only at the very same office that issued the Order (Tour East Indonesia a division of PT. JTB Indonesia), within 11 months after the date of issue. (10% of the IDR price will be charged as a handling fee.)
- Refund of a PASS: A JAPAN RAIL PASS could be refunded only before the starting date of the validity period at any JAPAN RAIL PASS exchange office. (10% of the yen price will be charged as a handling fee.) No refund can be made for any reason on or after the first day of use.
- You are a foreign tourist visiting Japan from abroad for sight-seeing, under the entry status "temporary visitor". Even if you visit Japan with an Exchange Order, to be turned in for a PASS, the exchange couldn’t be made unless you have “Temporary Visitor” status. If you use an automated gate, no stamp will be applied to your passport. Either use a manned automated gate or ask a clerk to apply the stamp to your passport.
- The Exchange Order must be exchanged for a PASS within three months from the date the order was issued.
- Exchange for a PASS could be made at one of the following applicable JR stations having a JAPAN RAIL PASS exchange office.
- Neither an Oder nor a PASS could be reissued if lost, stolen, soiled, or otherwise rendered unusable. Please ensure its safekeeping.
